Her work explores the delicate tension between light, space, and emotion — creating silent, meditative moments on canvas and in physical space. After formative years in Ukraine, Julia spent time studying and working in Barcelona and New York, where the sharp contrasts of urban architecture and light inspired a new layer of clarity and minimalism in her practice. Now in Vienna, her artistic focus centers on how light reveals not only surfaces but also memories. This initial spark grew into an insatiable curiosity that propelled me across Europe to explore other modes of creative self-expression. I pursued intensive art studies in painting, design, and glassworks across major art capitals and prominent learning institutions. My travels and living experiences in Spain, France, and Italy, combined with my upbringing in Ukraine, continue to be a rich and constant source of inspiration in my work. There always exist a hope for a second chance, for a new life, even if it's come "from a scratch", even if the past is dark and messy. It is always existing a small space for a new beginning. Installation Sparkle Step inside a redefined world where light, texture, and shadow converge, making you a vital element of the evolving scene. Chandeliers The main topic of my artworks is the Light and Chandeliers represent it in the best possible way. I try to show how the Light can change the atmosphere and the mood, make the space more festive or mysterious, bright or dark. Also, it is a unique artificial light that we can control ourselves. In this way I want to show that everything depends on us, as with Chandeliers, we can turn on the Light inside us and share it with other people or turn it off and stay in darkness. Abstract Explore my abstract series, where brushstrokes and paint splashes capture the essence of light emerging from shadow, inviting contemplation of silence and perception. On Paper I created a new series of artworks, using antique postcards and I gave them not only a second life but a different meaning. Usually postcards reminds us our moments of joy, special places while traveling or we simply receive them from the dearest friend or loved one who are far away.  But time flies and new generations might forgot or even don’t know about this special connection that used to have this particular postcard and they are left somewhere in the box or even in garbage. I’m collecting those special joyful moments and want to bring some colors and paint to the black and white images and give a second chance to make one more round of happiness and joy to someone from our generation. © 2025 Julia Dubovyk.
